Three Versions of The Prelude as Word Clouds

On a whim, I used Wordle to generate word clouds for the three major versions of Wordsworth’s Prelude. A lot of the results are expected (the 1805 and 1850 versions are much more similar to one another than to the 1799—whoda thunk it!), but there are some interesting trends. I was particularly struck by the increased frequency of “time” and “now” in the longer versions.
